Federation Bells
Federation Bells are controlled by a computer which is programmed to play more than 30 compositions three times a day.
Visit the ground-breaking website www.federationbells.com.au, which allows you to compose music for Melbourne's Federation Bells. Using an intuitive drag 'n' drop timeline, create a virtual multi-track masterpiece using the 39 distinctive bells. Publish your composition and you can hear it played on the Federation Bells installation in Birrarung Marr. The website also includes detailed information about the bells and allows you to hear music written for the instrument.
The Federation Bells can be visited at any time, and are lit with dynamic coloured lighting after dark; however they are best visited when they are ringing. Additional times can be found at the website. Special events are outlined in the online calendar and include workshops to help with composing for the bells.
